Mountain First Aid Course

The club organizes a 16 hour (2 day) first aid course from time to time. The course is outdoors-oriented, and so ideal for anyone looking to lead trips in the future or those who wish to have a little first-aid knowledge for their own walking trips. No previous first aid training is required. All members are welcome to take the course but this is also a chance to become involved in leading trips as it is a requirement for all Walking Club trip leaders to have a first aid certificate!

We're hoping to run such a course next term if there's enough interest. Please contact trip.safety_a_ouwc.org for more information, to register your interest or for information on other suitable courses.

A suitable first aid course for leading trips with the Walking Club is one which:

  • Lasts for a minimum of sixteen hours
  • Has been carried out in the last three years
  • Is run by a Health and Safety Executive approved provider
