From our bas e at Yr Hen Neuadd in the centre of Bethesda\, we should be able to walk straight out onto the mountains to explore t he northern half of the range. This trip should be the pe rfect opportunity to escape Oxford for two full days in th e mountains before exams start at the end of term. < BR/>

Though less often visited than Snowdoni a to the North or the Brecon Beacons to the South\, the Cam brian Mountains offer beautiful scenary and challenging wa lking. We will be staying in a barn at the foot of the Pl ynlimon mountain\, the highest peak in central Wales\, which we are hoping to climb. We also hope to go to the Elan V alley Reservoirs\, an area notable for its wildlife\, which may provide views of the endangered Red Kite.
