Welcome (Trinity 2008)

Hi everyone and welcome back! I hope you all had a good vacation and are ready to make the most of the sunshine by getting out of Oxford and into the beautiful, open countryside.

As usual, there will be local walks every Saturday and Sunday during term - it looks like Evelyn has drawn up a really good programme that will take you to places of scenic and historical value all over Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. We even have a sponsored walk for Cecily's fund, raising money for orphans in Zambia. Don't forget that non-members are welcome on these, so bring your friends along too. Full details can be found on the Local walks page.

This term there will be weekend trips to ever popular Snowdonia, the Cambrian Mountains and a long trip to Scotland at the end of term. There is a trip to sunny Cornwall, which will be one member's 30th OUWC weekend trip, and our first joint trip with Cambridge Hill Walking Club to the Yorkshire Dales. To sign up for these come to free tea, which will be happening in Green College on Thursday 24th April.

Due to popular demand there will be three minibus day trips this term. First off, Christopher and Melissa will be going to the Roaches in the Peak District, then Melissa and Evelyn will be going to stunning Cheddar Gorge, and finally Melissa will be leading another trip to Wenlock edge in Shropshire.

As always, these trips cannot go ahead without sterling support from our leaders and drivers. The current system for becoming a leader is changing this term, if you think you might want to lead for the club please see the leaders pages and talk to our trip and safety coordinator, Dave. If you would like to become a driver, please contact Melissa, the secretary.

In addition to the punt party (Saturday 31st May - end of 6th week), there are some other socials this term. As well as a sushi evening, barbeque and picnic, we will be having some simpler evenings that just involve meeting in G&Ds. See the socials page for more details on all of these.

If you have any questions or comments about the club, please come and have a word with me at one of the socials or send me an e-mail (president(at)ouwc.org).
