HT00 Welcome

Begin The 21st Century With OU Walking Club

Welcome back to Oxford for the first term of the new Millennium. My computer hasn't stopped working so the termcard has been produced with its usual range of walks to chose from. I hope that you'll find some trips of interest to attract you out of the city during the next couple of months.

As usual, there are two local walks every weekend during Full Term. These provide an excellent opportunity to get out of Oxford and to explore the surrounding countryside. With our subsidy scheme all the walks (except those which are free!) are reduced in price to try to allow even the poorest student a chance to stretch their legs. As well as walks in the Chilterns and the Cotswolds we are going slightly further afield to Bath and Avebury. None of these walks need to be booked in advance so just turn up and go!

Our minibus day trips, at just £5.50, are a bargain way to reach more distant places. This term we have trips to the Brecon Beacons, the New Forest, the Roaches and the Dorset Coast. For those wanting a full weekend break we have excursions to Snowdonia, the Lake District, the Peak District and Pembrokeshire this term. All these trips are for £35 or less including accommodation, transport and food.

The main social event this term is the Annual Dinner. Come along to St Benet's Hall and join in the eating, drinking and general merriment. I'm sure a good time will be had by all. As always, we have our pub ramble and, of course, the TGM at the end of term.

Whatever you do, have a great term.

President
