About This Site

This website first came into existence around 1995, when the Club was still known as Oxford University Rambling and Hillwalking Club (OURHC). It has been maintained by various Webmasters over the years, including Phil Davis, Barney Stratford, Rebecca Blyth, Dave Cocks, Richard Campbell, Ric Hartley, James Welch, Christopher Thomas and Nicolas Delerue.

The OUWC website was moved to the new domain http://www.ouwc.org/ in Summer 2002. Between March and September 2003, the site was extensively redesigned by Dave Cocks, the Club's first elected Webmaster, and Richard Campbell, who masterminded the extensive new Photos and Archives sections. The pages are maintained by the Webmaster - if you have any comments or suggestions please contact webmaster_a_ouwc.org.

Technical Details

This site was previously hosted on users.ox.ac.uk, the main web server for personal and club sites in Oxford University. Now it is mostly hosted on webspace bought from Heart Internet.

These pages are designed to be viewed using the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. They should however work in older versions of these browsers as well as other browsers - please let us know if you notice any major incompatibility issues.

The pages are written in valid HTML 4.01 transitional and use valid CSS 2.0.

The code was written by hand using Emacs, and images were processed using the GIMP and ImageMagick .
